TV Casting News: Kim Wayans Joins Reckless (CBS), Lenora Crichlow Joins Untitled ABC Comedy

Kim Wayans has joined the cast of CBS’ drama pilot Reckless, which will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, from a script penned by Dana Stevens.

Set in Charleston, South Carolina, Reckless centers on a beautiful big city litigator and a Southern attorney who struggle to hide their intense attraction to one another, while also professionally battling over a police sex scandal.

Ms Wayans will play a character named Vi, who is paralegal to our litigator from New York (the role hasn't been cast yet).

Cam Gigandet will play the Southern attorney.

Wayans was last seen on the big screen in Pariah, and on the small screen in an episode of Criminal Minds.

Brit actress Lenora Crichlow continues to push her way into mainstream American consciousness, as she's joins the cast of an ABC pilot from the Cullen Brothers.

The star of BBC Three's critically-acclaimed supernatural drama series Being Human currently in its final season) has booked a role in the untitled Cullen Brothers comedy which centers on "Terry Gannon (Maggie Lawson), a recently divorced single mother who temporarily moves in with her estranged father (James Caan), a beer-swilling former baseball player."

Crichlow will play a character named Gigi, described as a mom whose son tries out for Little League with Terry’s son.

Deadline states that Crichlow is getting a lot of looks for various pilots here in the USA, so there might be more casting announcements coming.

Vikings Comes To The History Channel Tonight

While more cable channels are starting to get into the reality business, History has decided to go the opposite way, in a big way. After the critical success of its first scripted series, Hatfields & McCoys, History has commissioned a new 9-part scripted series, Vikings, which was made with a reported budget of over $40 million (twice what was spent on the 10-part epic that proceeds it, the stilted Mark Burnett-produced miniseries The Bible). What’s interesting about the juxtaposition of the two series is how much Vikings actually includes theology into its own narrative, and not just of the Norse mythological kind. There isn’t a great deal of history about the Vikings (since history was written primarily by those from whom they pillaged), but series writer and creator Michael Hirst (The Tudors) uses that to play with our perception of these fearsome Norsemen.

The series follows the legendary Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), who finds a fascination not in pillaging lands on summer raids (not that he is against it), but rather with the new cultures he comes into contact with as he plunders his way across Europe. Don’t let that make you think this is a sissy series, though – Vikings is brutal and broody and fast-paced. Hit the jump for more.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Accidentally Confirmed by Charles Dance

Thanks to the complex system of whispers, nods and embargoes through which the entertainment press functions, we’re often forced to collude in shared delusions. No, that actor hasn’t left a show under a cloud (we’re saying nothing), no, those classic monsters won’t be turning up in Doctor Who (at least, until the press release announces it), and yes, that programme may well make it to another series (even though it was cancelled before episode one aired).

One such folie à plusieurs is the non-existence of Game Of Thrones’ fourth season, which, we’re compelled to remind you, has not yet been confirmed by HBO.

Got that? Officially, as the situation stands, Game Of Thrones still might not continue to a fourth season. HBO hasn’t announced that it will, which means it definitely isn’t the case that of course it absolutely bloody well will and everyone knows it. Just to be completely clear, the most successful, expensive, hyped, and critically acclaimed fantasy drama there is, which has the source material to endure indefinitely and enough die-hard fans to outnumber all the slaves in Astapor, might not be commissioned for a fourth season. We just don’t know. It hasn’t been confirmed.

Except that now, thanks to the wonderful Charles Dance, it sort of has.

On the press circuit for the season two DVD release, Dance, who plays Game Of Thrones’ villainous patriarch Tywin Lannister, revealed that he’s off to film the fourth season later this year, with six of the scripts he’ll be working from seemingly already written.

Sandwiched between heart-felt praise for the talents of writer/director duo DB Weiss and David Benioff were these words from Mr Dance:

“We’re about to start season four aren’t we? This year. We get scripts pretty early on, much earlier on than in similar series, usually you get perhaps one episode and you just have to trust that what’s going to come in subsequent episodes is going to be as good as the one you’ve got, but in this I think there are six scripts already written, and we will probably be able to see them with more than adequate time to prepare before we start shooting.”

Entertainingly, as soon as the words "season four" left Charles Dance's mouth, the panel moderator signalled his panic with a few swift knocks to the table top, a message Dance happily talked though. At the end of the junket, a representative from HBO came in to remind us all of the fact that season four has not been officially green-lit.

Those six scripts? They don’t exist. We hope that's clear.

BBC Doctor Who Sneak Peak

Doctor Who is to return to BBC One on 30 March in a modern day urban thriller announced today as 'The Bells of St John', as the first official image is revealed giving fans a sneak peak at what to expect from the epic new series.

Written by Steven Moffat, 'The Bells of St John' will mark the official introduction of the Doctor's newest companion, Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. Having already made two appearances last year, the opening episode will be the first time fans get to see the Clara that will accompany the Doctor across the series' eight adventures.

Set in London against the backdrop of new and old iconic landmarks, The Shard and Westminster Bridge, 'The Bells of St John' will also establish a new nemesis, the Spoonheads, who will battle the Doctor as he discovers something sinister is lurking in the Wi-Fi.

Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, said:

"It's the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what's going on! We're up in the sky and under the sea! We're running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There's new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the TARDIS. And in the finale, the Doctor's greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn't already our most exciting year it would be anyway!"

Featuring a movie a week from a ghost story to an underwater siege to a period drama, the new series will also introduce new monsters, as well as bringing back fan favourites the Ice Warriors and Cybermen. (By 'movie' you mean 'regular episode'.)

Meanwhile the series' stellar list of guest stars include: Celia Imrie; Richard E Grant; Warwick Davies, Jessica Raine; Dougray Scott and Tamzin Outhwaite, as well as for the first time on screen together, mother and daughter Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling.
