THOUGH HE DONNED a weirdly unflattering suit to his Cosmopolis premiere in Paris back in May, Robert Pattinson’s wardrobe for his upcoming film is slim, sexy, and sophisticated. The film, based on the 2003 novel by Dom DiLillo, follows Eric Parker (played by Robert Pattinson) over the course of one day in a semi-futuristic version of New York City. The Twilight actor wears the same slim black Gucci suit and Chanel J12 Chromatic ceramic and titanium watch by Chanel throughout the film.
“He is at the top of his game with an empire beneath him,” the costume designer Denise Cronenberg (and director David Cronerberg’s sister) explained to InStyle. “I wasn’t even sure if he would wear a watch because these days a lot of people tell hime from their cell phones.” It was Pattinson himself who insisted on the watch, explaining that it was an important status symbol for his character. “[The Chanel design] was perfect with the reflective ceramic that has such a sleek futuristic look.” Pattinson, fresh from his high profile split with fellow Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, looks distinguished and stylish.
