Ewan McGregor is cool about getting old

'The Impossible' actor Ewan McGregor has admitted he worried about growing old when he turned 40, but has now embraced his age. Ewan McGregor is worried about getting old.
'The Impossible' actor has revealed he was in a panic about turning 40 in 2011, but has now calmed down and embraced his older and wiser self.
In an interview with Italian magazine IO Donna, he said: ''When I turned 40 I started worrying about my age and getting older, but now that I'm over that I'm content and relaxed with ageing... It's OK.''
The 41-year-old Scottish actor has four daughters, Clara, 15, Esther Rose, 11, and adopted Jamiyan, 11, and Anouk, two, with his wife Eve Mavrakis, and he has been following his parents example when it comes to raising them.
The 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen' star keeps his rules and morals for his kids simple and just wants them to know the difference between right and wrong.
He said: ''When it comes to my kids, there are few simple values I cherish, the same as my parents. What's wrong, what's right, kindness, a solid culture and good manners.''
The actor, who has been married to production designer Eve, 46, since 1995, isn't sure what the secret to a happy relationship is, but mused: ''There are no rules when it comes to marriage. Still being in love after all the years helps.''

Ewan McGregor talks about being naked on the Big Screen

Ewan McGregor tops just about every list going of actors who don't shy away from flashing the flesh for the odd naked scene. So when The Impossible star sat down (fully clothed, alas) with CBS Sunday Morning this week, it was only a matter of time before the topic of conversation turned to the Scot's renowned penchant for stripping down on camera.
And good news for fans of the erstwhile trou-dropper: The 41-year-old has no plans for cutting back when it comes to showing off his nude form. Clearly, the man takes his craft seriously.
"Being naked is something that happens in either end of the day for me, and if you're lucky, somewhere in the middle as well," he says on the show, airing this weekend. "And I don't understand why it's an issue.
"I don't take my clothes off in movies because I want to flash my body around. I took my clothes off for movies because I'm an actor."
And one who wants to show every, well, intimate aspect of a character. Even those rather exposing sides that other actors may shy away from. (Not Ewan, though, as evidenced by his frequently full-frontal body of work on display in Velvet Goldmine, Young Adam, The Ghost Writer, The Pillow Book, Trainspotting and...we're probably forgetting one or two.)
"I believe the movies that I make say something about the world and therefore they should reflect human instincts and natures and desires," he went on. "A big part of that for us is our sexual life and romantic life."

Ewan McGregor: 'The Impossible' AFI Fest Screening

Ewan McGregor looks dashing while arriving at the special screening of his upcoming movie The Impossible during the 2012 AFI Fest held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Sunday (November 4) in Hollywood.
The 41-year-old Scottish actor was joined on the red carpet by his director Juan Antonio Bayona. Ewan recently talked with the NY Times about his Impossible co-star Naomi Watts.
“There’s something very straightforward with Naomi. She doesn’t play any games,” Ewan shared. “From eight minutes into it she’s injured and in shock, and stays that way. I’ve seen it two and half times, and I still wonder how she managed to weave such variety and shade into something that could have been a one-note performance — fright and pain.”

Ewan McGregor, Kate Hudson Team for Romantic Comedy 'Born to Be King'

Ewan McGregor is set to headline Indomina Releasing's contemporary "The Prince and the Pauper" tale, Born to Be King, Variety reports. Kate Hudson is also said to be eyeing the project as the female lead.
Written and directed by Peter Capaldi (Strictly Sinatra), Born to Be King follows an on-set battle between male and female movie stars and a situation that gets all the more complicated when an extra arrives bearing a shocking resemblance to the leading man.
McGregor was recently seen in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire and Lasse Hallström's Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. He'll next appear on the big screen in Bryan Singer's just-retitled Jack the Giant Slayer. Hudson, meanwhile, appeared in Something Borrowed and Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Production is planned to begin in early 2013 in London. Dan Lupovitz and Alexandra Stone are attached to produce with Elaine Collins co-producing and Ron Fogelman and William Parente executive producing.

Ewan McGregor to Star in Crime Drama 'Son of a Gun'

Julius Avery’s Australian crime thriller Son of a Gun, starring Ewan McGregor, will be touted to buyers during the American Film Market, with a shoot start date in early 2013.
The movie, billed as a visceral, tautly paced heist thriller, centers on a complex relationship between Australia’s public enemy No. 1 (McGregor) and his young protégé. It will be sold to North American buyers by UTA Independent Film Group and internationally by high-profile U.K. start-up sales, finance and production banner Altitude Film Entertainment.
Avery will direct the film, based on his original screenplay, with Timothy White (Two Hands) producing through Australian banner Southern Light Films. Aaron Gilbert of Media House Capital serves as executive producer. Altitude Film Sales managing director Mike Runagall said Avery's film combines the "tension and intensity of Animal Kingdom with the epic sweep of Heat." Financing is being provided by Media House Capital and ScreenWest. The movie is slated to shoot on location in Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Avery is being cited as the next Australian breakout director, following in the footsteps of David Michod and Justin Kurzel. He is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Bryce Menzies at Australian firm Marshalls & Dent.
McGregor is in production on John Wells' adaptation of August: Osage County opposite Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. He also will star in Warner Bros.’ Jack the Giant Killer, a modern take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fable directed by Bryan Singer and due in 2013.
