Jennifer Lawrence Admits To Being The Unpopular Girl In Middle School

via glooce

The ubiquitous Jennifer Lawrence is on everyone's BFF wish-list nowadays, but turns out that wasn't always the case. The 22-year-old actress revealed to The Sun that she was bullied throughout her childhood, something that built her character and made her who she is today.

"I changed schools a lot when I was in elementary school because some girls were mean," Lawrence told The Sun. "They were less mean in middle school, because I was doing all right, although this one girl gave me invitations to hand out to her birthday party that I wasn't invited to."

But a Jennifer Lawrence story wouldn't be complete without a Jennifer Lawrence twist: "I just hocked a loogie on them and threw them in the trash can," she added. "Don't worry about the bitches. That could be a good motto, because you come across people like that throughout your life."

Lawrence also opened up about her new, slightly more grown-up status. "As for being a sex symbol, I don't think of myself as sexy and, obviously, it's not true," she said. "I'm going to try to push that out of my mind because it makes me queasy."

And if she is perceived as such, you can't chalk it up to trying. "The other day I had pizza for breakfast, buffalo wings for lunch and pizza for dinner," she told The Sun. "Probably my favourite food is a potato -- just a potato, because I like fries, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes."

Jennifer Lawrence has her eyes only for Bradley Cooper

via glooce

Jennifer Lawrence reportedly ignored advances from Leonardo DiCaprio recently as she “only had eyes” for Bradley Cooper.

Jennifer and Bradley appeared alongside each other in Silver Linings Playbook and their portrayal of a couple who are falling in love has caused speculation romance also blossomed off screen. Although they have both denied they are dating, their behaviour at the Oscars last month – where Jennifer was named best actress - set tongues wagging again.

“They keep saying they’re like brother and sister, but anyone who meets them can see that their chemistry is off the charts. Leo DiCaprio was clearly hitting on her, but she only had eyes for Bradley,” an insider told Heat magazine.

The pair also attended a pre-Oscars party together, where they appeared just as friendly. They spent so much time with each other at the event other guests presumed they were an item.

“They were deep in conversation and talking about how they wanted to take a break after the awards season. Everyone at the party was talking about their chemistry; they really looked like they were together, but trying their best to hide it,” the source added.

Bradley, 38, has previously insisted that he is too old to date 22-year-old Jennifer. She has also insisted they don’t see each other romantically, claiming their chemistry is so good on screen as they have none in everyday life. Their behaviour has led many to believe they aren’t being truthful though.

“When they’re at a party together, Brad constantly swoops around the room to check on Jen – it’s like he can’t stay away,” the source mused.

Jennifer Lawrence Falls on Steps as She Wins Best Actress Oscar

12:03 am - 02/25/2013

And just like that, Jennifer Lawrence is immortalized -- goofily! -- in Oscar history. The 22-year-old star won the Best Actress Academy Award inside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Feb. 24. Ascending the Oscars stage in a stunning pale Dior Haute Couture gown, Lawrence suffered every actress' nightmare: She face-planted! Tripping on her sizable frock, the blonde fell down on the steps, and was quickly helped up.

Getting a standing ovation from some in the crowd, Lawrence quickly acknowledged the pratfall. "You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell -- it's really embarrassing. This is nuts!"

Accepting her Oscar from The Artist's Jean Dujardin, Lawrence then acknowledged her competition: Zero Dark Thirty's Jessica Chastain, The Impossible's Naomi Watts, Amour's Emmanuelle Riva, and Beasts of the Southern Wild's Quvenzhane Wallis. "You were so magnificent, and it's been so amazing getting to know you," Lawrence said, "You've made this experience unforgettable."

Thanking her family and other colleagues, she then wished a happy birthday to French actress Riva, whose 86th birthday fell on Oscar Sunday.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Not Thirsty For Oscars

via glooce

She's hotly tipped to grab her first Oscar when the Academy Awards get underway in Hollywood this weekend, but Jennifer Lawrence admits she won't be losing any sleep if someone else steals her thunder.

The 22-year old actress is one of the Best Actress nominations for her role as Tiffany Maxwell in recent box office hit 'Silver Linings Playbook,' but while she remains the bookies favourite to claim the award at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (Feb 24) Jennifer is doing her best to put thoughts of winning to one side.

I try not to (think about winning),” she told the Daily Mirror. “For my career, I hope, knock on wood, that it happens, but I don't have a personal interest in it. I'm not going to cry myself to sleep if it doesn't happen, I'm still going to be happy. I'm still going to have my friends and I will be fine. It's just, will I get promoted or not?”

While she plays a risqué former sex-addict in 'Silver Linings,' Jennifer admits that off-screen she has a life-long fear of breaking the rules.

I've had a severe case of anxiety since I was young about getting in trouble,” she said. “I hate getting in trouble and I hate breaking rules. I try to live my life doing what I think is the best thing to do in the situation. So then something goes wrong and I end up apologizing.”

The young actress also admitted that co-star Bradley Cooper gave her some much needed advice about the perils of fame when they first met.

He was the one who told me I couldn't shop in Whole Foods and I tested it and he was totally right,” she said. “The paparazzi are at every Whole Foods.

"It's fine, I have friends to get my groceries.”

Jennifer Lawrence's Dress Rips at the SAG Awards? Here's What Really Happened

via glooce

Don't lie! Wardrobe malfunctions at awards shows are exciting, and viewers might have thought there was a major slip onstage when Jennifer Lawrence accepted her award for Best Female Actor in a Film.

But alas, 'twas not the case.

While making what seemed to be the very treacherous walk up to the stage in that long Christian Dior gown, it looked like J.Law's dress decided to just split open.

So did it rip? No!

First of all, this is a Christian Dior gown we're talking about here; those things don't just rip, even if Lawrence says that she's "considered a fat actress." Secondly, it was too clean a cut for it to be a rip, so here's what was going on.

The original gown, which was revealed on the runway at a couture fashion show on Monday, showed clear distinctions that were connected by sheer lining. Lawrence's dress, however, had the lining hidden, so people couldn't really tell that it was a tiered gown.

Once she was approaching the stage to get her award, the combination of her pulling up on the top part of the dress and possibly having the train stuck on a heel (or something) revealed the sheer lining in between.

And there you have it!

Case closed.

Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence Look Out at 'Catching Fire' Shots Final Scenes

via glooce

No doubt there's been a Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence look out this week. Catching Fire has made an emergency decision to shoot some finals scenes at Ringwood State Park in northern New Jersey.

Loyal fans of the Hunger Games series had thought all scenes for its sequel had been shot but they were wrong. A permit was filed "for a commercial film shoot at Ringwood State Park and Ramapo Mountain State Forest for GGX Productions under the film name, The Idiom."

There was widespread belief this was a fake title also used for casting calls for Catching Fire.

"The permit called for scouting of the locations on Tuesday and Wednesday with filming Thursday and Friday with any extra days to be determined. State Parks Police at the entrance to Ringwood State Park said the entire park was closed Friday and would re-open Saturday."

There have been previous times when scene locations were leaked and security had to be on hand to deal with onlookers and fans. Chances are the same thing happened this time because "park security would not allow a Record photographer to get close to the set."

Catching Fire has become one of the most anticipated movies and fans love getting behind the scenes or into the scenes when they can. If there's a chance Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence were filming, their following would have on the stake out. They have a chemistry that many wish would grow into a solid friendship that many admire.

Which celebrity would you camp out all night to catch a glimpse of? Would it be Joshifer?

Jennifer Lawrence goes after Her Oscar Rivals on SNL but all it's for laughs

    via glooce

How to get the jump on your sister Oscar nominees? Host Saturday Night Live – and come out punching.

That was Jennifer Lawrence's modus operandi this weekend, with the Silver Linings Playbook's Best Actress contender taking good-natured swipes at her competition during her silver-tongued opening monologue on the NBC comedy show.

About Jessica Chastain, she said: "In Zero Dark Thirty you caught Bin Laden. So what? In Winter's Bone I caught a squirrel, and then ate it."

Naomi Watts: You were in The Impossible. You know what else is impossible? You beating me on Oscar night."

Quvenzhané Wallis, the 9-year-old nominee for Beasts of the Southern Wild: "You think you can beat me? [In best Gary Coleman voice] 'What you talkin' 'bout, Wallis?' Also, the Alphabet called. It wants its letters back."

And Emmanuelle Riva, from the French film Amour: "An 85-year-old French lady. Um, yeah, I think I can take you."

Also in line for ribbing by the rest of the cast on the show, which featured The Lumineers as the musical guests, were disgraced athlete Lance Armstrong (played by Jason Sudeikis), reputed hoax victim Manti Te'o (Bobby Moynahan), outspoken Golden Globes honoree Jodie Foster (Kate McKinnon) and the scowling, Globes party-pooper Tommy Lee Jones (Bill Hader).

Though not personally at the end of a satirical sharp stick, Lawrence did tip her hat to her Hunger Games persona Katniss Everdeen by participating in a mock Post-Hunger Games press conference.

The running gag was how could Katniss go for Peeta (played by Taran Killam) because he's so short. The gamers were also asked if they used performance-enhancing drugs.

The Hits and Missis of Golden Globes Fashion

    via glooce

Thanks, Lucy Liu! Now, I don't need to visit the botanical gardens.

Meet you at the luau in 10, Halle Berry.

Marion Cotillard: OMG! Are you going to the sorority dance on Saturday?

Ariel Winter raided Grandma's closet. Th's dress seems better suited for a bridal or baby shower -- and even that would be a stretch.

Jennifer Lawrence: The "Hunger Games" star normally hits the bulls-eye. But even though she's lovely in red, if Madonna's stale torpedo bra has gone missing, we know who's underwear drawer to check out.

A plunging neckline shouldn't distract with so much shapeless material, and Jessica Chastain's fair complexion and red hair begs for a dress with some color. Any color, really.

Denzel Washington: Uh. Did you borrow that suit. It doesn't fit, Denzel.
Bill Murray, didn't you have a chance to change before your audition for "Brave 2"?

Anne Hathaway makes the most of her still slimmed down figure. From gown to short 'do, she embodies ethereal beauty.

What a rockin' body, J.Lo. Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to make jaws unhinge, and this va-voom dress set hearts pounding.

Mama-to-be Kristen Bell shows how a maternity dress can look elegant without being overly revealing on the red carpet. The A-line on this gown is simply perfect.

It's easy to see why People called Kerry Washington best dressed for the week. She literally shimmers with the kind of elegance we wished we saw more of on the red carpet.

This dress matches Zooey Deschanel's personality type, ont that's totally lacking in any pretense. For that reason alone, it makes our best list.

Bold is beautiful as Claire Danes demonstrates in this deep red gown that compliments her in every way. Next time, the "Homeland" actress should scale back on the eye makeup a touch.

What a pair. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler know how to blend two very different styles, Fey opting for tastefully sophisticated and Poehler sinfully sexy. Loving Poehler's shoes.

Is that Bradley Cooper? Or is it Patrick Dempsey? It's freaky, but the two kind of look like they were separated at birth. But iIn our playbook, Cooper -- sporting a Dempsey 'do -- is golden tonight.

Jennifer Lawrence hits the Beach in Hawaii

    via glooce

She has been busy promoting her new movie Silver Linings Playbook and is currently filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
And now Jennifer Lawrence has taken a much-needed break for the Thanksgiving holiday in Hawaii.

The 22-year-old actress showed off her famous curvaceous figure as she hit the beach in Maui on Wednesday and Thursday with her brother Blaine.

It seems that the actress is more than happy to take part in some surfing and she was seen riding the waves with her sibling.
The pair were seen scouting out the best spots to surf before getting into the water, clearly taking the activity quite seriously.

The young star is close to her mother and family, who all live in Louisville, Kentucky, and is often  spotted spending time with them.

Jennifer also spoke to E! Online about her two co-stars:

Jennifer Lawrence: Katniss is "Like a male hero with a vagina"

    via glooce

On the big screen, Jennifer Lawrence is as tough as they come. But meet her for dinner, and you’ll quickly learn the truth—she’s a lightweight. After a single glass of wine, she’s starting to feel tipsy. “I’m going to need to eat,” Lawrence says. “Or take my clothes off.” She orders a hamburger with bacon and truffle fries. No, wait, she tells our waitress, hold the bacon. And, actually, hold the burger. She eyes the strip steak, before deciding on the chicken. “Hang on. Sorry, I’m so annoying.” Pause. “The mashed potatoes! Yeah, instead of the fries.” She tops that off with bacon, because she loves bacon (and Domino’s pizza, bubble gum, Sour Patch Kids, and pretzels dipped in avocado). Should we share some fries? “No,” she insists. “Order what you want.” When I do, she interjects: “You’re making a huge mistake!” The truffle fries it is.

If this sounds like a scene from When Harry Met Sally, it’s because Jennifer Lawrence, 22, is an eccentric spirit. You’d never know that from her roster of serious roles—Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, Mystique in X-Men: First Class, and her Oscar-nominated debut in Winter’s Bone. Despite gravitating toward dramas, Lawrence, who grew up in Louisville, Ky., worshiped Lucille Ball and wanted to make people laugh. When she met with director Drake Doremus in 2010 before shooting Like Crazy, the two bonded over one-liners from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. “She’s so funny and goofy and vulnerable,” he says. “She’s so carefree and fun when she’s comfortable.” Now audiences are about to see that side in Silver Linings Playbook.

This isn’t a screwball comedy as much as a dark one. Lawrence plays Tiffany, a widow who falls for her neighbor Pat (Bradley Cooper), a bipolar guy pining after his adulterous ex-wife. To help him move on, Tiffany enlists Pat in a local dance competition. Originally, Anne Hathaway was supposed to play Tiffany, but after she bailed, director David O. Russell narrowed his sights on other actresses, and Lawrence auditioned for him over Skype. He knew she had a chameleon’s way of blending into a room. During the 2010 awards season, “she was going around with Winter’s Bone and we were going around with The Fighter,” Russell says. “I never recognized her. She would be standing next to me—who is this tall blonde that looks like a model from the Valley? Someone would say Jennifer Lawrence. That’s Jennifer Lawrence? I just met her! How is that Jennifer Lawrence?!”

To get into Tiffany’s skin, Lawrence knew she’d need to perform another disappearing act. She dyed her hair darker and spoke in a deeper octave to make herself sound older. “I was too young for the part,” she says. “I was way wrong. There was this fear at first. Am I going to ruin this for everybody?” The hardest part, though, was the film’s dance finale. Cooper was a natural, but Lawrence admits a lack of coordination. “I can barely walk across the room,” she says. To improve her skills, she studied old Gene Kelly videos. “That made me want to kill myself.” The hard work paid off. Lawrence is so good in the role, critics are touting her as a frontrunner for Best Actress at February’s Academy Awards.

With Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence is entering a category occupied by the likes of Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep. She’s a leading lady who can rack up box-office dollars and critical praise. Now in Atlanta filming the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire (with two more installments to follow), Lawrence describes Katniss as “this Joan of Arc who doesn’t see herself that way. She kind of grows into it. And she’s strong, like a male hero with a vagina.” As much as she adores the character based on Suzanne Collins’s bestselling novels, she almost didn’t accept the part. “If I’m honest with myself,” she says, “the thing that was driving me to do the audition was being competitive. Everybody was auditioning.” After she was cast as Katniss, she thought about the offer for three days—and decided to turn it down. Fortunately, she called her mother before she called her agent. “She told me I was being a hypocrite,” Lawrence says. “I wasn’t sure I wanted to be part of something that big. I was going to be the indie actor. I was going to drive my kids in a minivan and have a normal life.”

The indie-movie track may be on hold, but Lawrence is still attempting to live a quiet life. A big challenge, she says, is the paparazzi. Her younger self, the one who daydreamed about fame, thought photographers chasing her would be fun, not scary. “I’m a single girl driving around”—in her old Volkswagen—“being followed by a bunch of strange men I don’t know. You just want to run and get away.”
