The feud continues: One Direction and The Wanted in Twitter war of words

via glooce

Move over Louis Tomlinson, there's a new sasquatch in town - and he's taking on The Wanted.

Yup, the rivalry between One Direction and The Wanted reached new levels today, after Zayn Malik embarked on a war of words with Max George on Twitter.

The Twitter row/banter/whatever you want to call it seems to have been sparked by Zayn's comment two days ago, when he called Max a 'geek' for cosying up to Usher.

Now, up until this point the tweets could have all been passed off as banter. Then Tom Parker got involved, and said: 'I think "1 stripes" got his knickers in a twist'.

Unsurprisingly, Louis Tomlinson didn't stay silent for long - and leapt to the defence of his bandmate with the simple, yet sassy, '@TomTheWanted pipe down bad boy'.

Now stay with us, because this is where it gets a bit confusing timeline-wise. While the Zayn/Tom spat was going on, Max then replied to this earlier tweet from Zayn, saying: 'that's not very nice. I was just starting to like you and your RnB hits.'

A few minutes later, Tom revealed his extensive knowledge of the 1D boys nicknames, by posting a photo of Zayny-pops with the caption: "Bradford Bad Boi".

The Wanted Perform At The AMAs + Red Carpet Interview

via glooce

They have been somewhat lagging behind One Direction in the battle of the British boybands of late.
But The Wanted proved they are more than capable of giving their rivals a run for their money as they took to the stage at the American Music Awards on Sunday night.
Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran wowed as they performed their latest hit, I Found You, at the annual music event in Los Angeles.

At one stage, Nathan Sykes even passionately grabbed a camera and shook it as he belted out his vocal solo, with the crowd seeming to go wild.
Surrounded by a troupe of dancers and backed by a live band, the Glad You Came hitmakers had their performance polished to perfection.

And the boys seemed thrilled with the reception they received from the audience, with '#TheWantedkilledtheAMAs' later trending on Twitter.
Nathan tweeted: 'Just got a standing ovation at our first AMAs. I’m speechless.'
Meanwhile, Tom admitted he couldn't believe how far the group had come in the past two years, writing: '2 years ago we were playing school tours up and down the UK. Now we’re performing and nominated at the AMA’s #privileged.

'Favourite moment of my career so far!! #AMAs.'
And it would seem Max was keen on celebrating the performance with a spot of partying.
Prior to taking to the stage, he tweeted: 'So day ahead is.... Food... Rehearsal... Food... Red carpet... AMA performance... Mingle.. After parties...who knows. The dots mean beer btw.'
Despite The Wanted scoring serious kudos for their gig, they only bagged one nomination at the American Music Awards for favourite pop/rock band/duo/group, with the gong ultimately going to Maroon 5.

They were joined in the category by rivals One Direction, who were also up for Old Navy New Artist of the Year, which was awarded to Carly Rae Jepsen.
Both bands have made no secret of their rivalry in the past, with both spending much of the year launching their careers in the US.
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson previously told Now magazine: 'If you want to create that rivalry, then let's do it. We're not bothered about the friction or the rivalry. But I'm not going to shy away from it because that isn't the person I am. I don't think it's fair to me or any of the lads.'

To which Max responded in an interview with Glamour: 'I'd like to go up to Louis and go, 'OK,' so, if I was to say, "Yeah, let's start the rivalry, me and you, right now, what are we going to do? What are YOU gonna do?"
'I mean, if we're gonna go for it, let's proper go for it, at least. Let's not just say a couple of words to an interviewer. I feel tired by it, because, come on.'

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson on The Wanted rivalry: They started it

via glooce

One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson has said that he will not shy away from a rivalry with The Wanted. Tomlinson told Now that he was initially a fan of the fellow boyband before they started bad-mouthing his group in the press.

"I want to speak openly about this because it's quite frustrating," Tomlinson said. "I remember when I'd just done my first audition on The X Factor and I heard 'All Time Low' for the first time. I thought it was a great song by a great band. We met them on the show and they were nice."

He added: "It changed all of a sudden. There was one press story where they were bad-mouthing us. I thought maybe that had been twisted. But then there ended up being about ten stories and they've been caught on camera doing little things."

Tomlinson added: "I just think, 'If you want to create that rivalry, then let's do it.' We're not bothered about the friction or the rivalry. But I'm not going to shy away from it because that isn't the person I am. I don't think it's fair to me or any of the lads."

Tomlinson has previously said that he would be happy for The Wanted to support One Direction, before appearing to mock the group.

"I was going to say something rude then. Or something sexual," he added. "But that's something The Wanted would say."

The Wanted in Brazil Pictures and Videos

    via Glooce

They've enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in the last couple of years and with that has come a legion of female fans.
And it seems one member of the band in particular, Jay McGuiness, is still enjoying their new found attention.
The curly haired singer picked up a pair red frilly knickers and pocketed them during their performance at Z Festival in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

Look at where you're touching that, Jay...

The Glad You Came singers were mid song during the Brazilian festival when Jay spotted the treat that landed on stage for them.

Instead of ignoring the pretty pants, the cheeky chap decided to pick them and wave them at the excitable audience before putting them in his top pocket for later.
After the concert his band mate Siva Kaneswaran confirmed the incident, tweeting: 'Yes that actually happened @jaythewanted the perv.'

Knicker-stealing Jay also took to Twitter later, after posing for numerous pictures with fans and wrote: 'The Fanmily were awesome tonight #ooft.'
It's becoming a bit of a thing for Jay to get up close and personal to groupies while performing.
Earlier in the year he kissed a female fan on stage in Las Vegas.

Following the kiss, which was captured on camera, he announced to the crowd: 'I've never kissed an American girl before.'

It's not just the fans that Jay seemed impressed with though, earlier in the week he tweeted about where the globe trotting boys were staying, he wrote: 'Woah hotel is beachside, can hear the sea cause half the room is huge glass windows- trying to say it’s cool without getting pretentious :)'
The group took the opportunity to perform their new single I Found You, which will be released on November 4 ahead of their third studio album, that features collaborations with LMFAO and Rita Ora.

Speaking about their new song, Nathan Sykes said: "We're doing a video for it in a couple of weeks as well in LA, which is really exciting. We are just trying to lock down all the ideas for it now."
Max George added: "We've been working on [our next album] for, like, the last six months, but it's still not ready yet. We're still working away on that and we've got plenty more traveling to do yet, so I'm not actually sure when the album is going to be ready."
The popular boy band arrived in Brazil last Wednesday ahead of the concert.

They arrived on the same day that fellow Brit band McFly, who also preformed at the festival, did.
Z Festival, which began just last year, is aimed at the so-called Generation Z - young people who were born and raised in advent of the internet.
The Wanted played the festival in 2011 as well.
X Factor judge Demi Lovato will be closing the festival on Sunday (was tonight).
