As she celebrates her first Billboard 200 No. 1, Rihanna remains atop the Hot 100 for a second week with 'Diamonds.' Phillip Phillips, meanwhile, returns (again) to the top 10
As Rihanna soaks in the success of "Unapologetic," which, as previously reported, becomes her first Billboard 200 No. 1 album, bowing with 238,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, she maintains her No. 1 ranking on the Billboard Hot 100 for a second week with the set's lead single, "Diamonds."
Rihanna is just the second artist this year to lead both of Billboard's signature album and song rankings simultaneously. Adele doubled up atop the tallies, respectively, the weeks of Feb. 4 and 11 with "21" (which passes 10 million in sales this week, according to SoundScan) and the set's third Hot 100 No. 1, "Set Fire to the Rain."
The last artist before Adele to control the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 concurrently did so with Rihanna's assistance. For four of the seven weeks that Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, led the Hot 100 in summer 2010, the rapper's album "Recovery" held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. Earlier that year, Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" was amid its nine-week Hot 100 dominance while her debut album "Animal" roared onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1 (Jan. 23, 2010).
"Diamonds" (atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for an eighth week) handily wins the race to No. 1 on the Hot 100, leading Ke$ha's "Die Young" (3-2) by approximately 5,000 chart points. "Diamonds" gains by 5% in overall points, while "Young" surges by 7%. The latter title pushes 5-3 on Hot 100 Airplay (115 million, up 7%), while remaining at No. 4 on Hot Digital Songs (151,000, up 14%) and slipping 2-3 on On-Demand Songs (870,000, down 4%). As previously reported, the first single from Ke$ha's Dec. 4 album "Warrior" becomes her third No. 1 on the mainstream top 40 radio-based Pop Songs chart this week.
Maroon 5's former nine-week Hot 100 No. 1 "One More Night" drops 2-3, although it logs an eighth week atop Radio Songs. The song boasts the latter chart's longest rule since Rihanna led for 12 weeks (Dec. 5, 2011-Feb. 18, 2012) with "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris. "Night" maintains its No. 1 ranking on Radio Songs with 132 million in audience (down 5%). It holds at No. 4 on On-Demand Songs (787,000, down 4%) and falls 7-9 on Digital Songs (117,000, down 1%).
Bruno Mars bullets again at No. 4 on the Hot 100 with "Locked Out of Heaven," which, thanks to a 7-4 climb on Radio Songs (112 million, up 24%), claims top Airplay Gainer honors. The first single from Mars' Dec. 11 set "Unorthodox Jukebox" reaches the On-Demand Songs top 10 (11-9; 686,000, up 3%) and gains by 2% to 151,000 downloads sold, despite backtracking 3-5 on Digital Songs. With its latest sales frame, "Heaven" passes a million downloads sold to date.
PSY's former seven-week No. 2 Hot 100 hit "Gangnam Style" rebounds 7-5 with top Digital Gainer accolades, spurred by the Korean rapper's show-closing performance of the song with Hammer Sunday, Nov. 18 on the American Music Awards, broadcast on ABC. The track returns for a sixth week atop Digital Songs (2-1) with a 42% uptick to 229,000 downloads sold; of that sum, 41,000, or 18%, stem from the duet version, which mixes in Hammer's 1992 No. 5 Hot 100 hit "2 Legit 2 Quit." The buzz translates to a 10% gain (to 910,000)for "Style" on On-Demand Songs (3-2). After peaking at No. 12 last month, it descends 41-49 on Radio Songs.
Fun.'s "Some Nights" falls 5-6 on the Hot 100, followed by the Lumineers' "Ho Hey" (8-7).

Following his "Idol" victory, "Home" debuted at No. 10 (June 9). It fell off the chart after three weeks but returned, blasting 84-9 the week of Aug. 18 courtesy of its usage in NBC's coverage of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at the Summer Olympics. Radio airplay has since swelled, helping the song remain in the Hot 100's top 30 since the week it vaulted back to the top 10. The arrival of Phillips' debut set helps grant "Home" top Streaming Gainer honors on the Hot 100, as it bounds 31-12 on On-Demand Songs (606,000, up 38%). It advances 9-6 on Digital Songs (131,000, up 27%) and 14-12 on Radio Songs (67 million, up 5%).
